RESOLUTION NO. 5712
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE ClTY OF PALO AlTO
RECOGNIZING THE PRESENCE OF, AND WELCOMING TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
OAXACA, OAXACA STUDENTS ANO GUESTS
WHEREAS, cultural exchange resulting from people-to-people colllflunication
is the foundation of the Sister City Program which attempts to further
international understanding; and
WHEREAS, Oaxaca pays its respects to Palo Alto by sending seventeen
students and guests; and
WHEREAS, visitors are welcomed to the City of Palo Alto and into
the homes of Palo Alto residents; and
WHEREAS, this cultural exchange participation exemplifies the
mutual objective of the two cities, that of attempting to promote and
encourage and cultivate understanding between the people of the two
comnunities; and
WHEREAS~ this exchange program has proven to be mutually beneficial;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE
as follows:
SECTION I: That this Council recognizes the presence of, and
welcomes to this comnunity, visitors from our Sister City of Oaxaca.
SECTION 2: That th~s Council on behalf of the people of Palo
Alto expresses its heartfelt apprecia~ion to these students and guests for
their wann and significant contribution to the Sister City program.
SECTION 3~ That this Council honors and recognizes this exchange
as a vital element in the perpetuation and continuation of this program.
