RESOLUTIOn no. 5679
RESOLUTIOU OF TlIE COtntCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARIUG THE RESULTS OF THE MUIHCIPAL ELECTIO!l
HELD OU MAY 8, 1~79 -
lnU:REAS, on May 8J 197~, a ounicipal election was duly held
in the City of Palo Alto pursuant to the provisions of Section 3
of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto for the
purpose of electing four councilmenbers, each for a full tern of
four years expiring June 30, 1933; and
Wlffiru:AS, on Uay 3, 1979, an election was duly held in the
City of Palo Alto and· the Palo Alto Unified School Di$trict pur-
suant to the provisions of Article -III of the Charter of the City
of Palo Alto and Article IX of the Constitution of the State of
California for the purpose of considering an ar:iendment to the
Charter of the City of Palo Alto regarding the Palo Alto Unified
School District Board of Education; and
tnIEREAS, due and legal notice of said municipal election was
given as required by law; and
l~IBREAS. on the 3th day of May. 1979, at the hour of 7:00 in
the morning of said day the polls were duly and regularly opened
for said municipal election and said polls were continuously kept
open for said purpose from the time they ~iere so opened until 3:0Q
in the evening of said day; and
WlillREAS, on Hay 14, 1979, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
met as its usual place of meeting and did then and there canvass the
returns of said muni~ipal election and declare the ~esults thereof;
NOW, THEREFORE. the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTIOl!....!. The Council finds and declares that:
(a) A municipal election was duly and regularly held on ¥.ray
8. 1979, in all things accordine to the Charter of the City of
Palo Alto. Resolutions no. 5646 and 5673, and the election laws of
the State of California;
(b) The whole nunber of votes cast in the City at said
municipal election for the purpose of electing four councill!lembers
including those cast upon absentee ballots, was 46,624; and
(c} The total number of votes given and cast at said municipal
election, including votes cast upon absent~e ballots. was as fol-
lows for the candidates for City Council:

number of votes for the off ice of councilmember for a full four-year
tern, were duly and regularly elected for terms of four years com-
mencing July 1, 1979, to serve as councilme.I!lber of the City of Palo
Alto.
