RESOLUTION OF THE COlJUCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
COMMENDIUG JAY THORWALDSOU FOR HIS OUTSTA!IDING
SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY CF PALO ALTO AS THE
REPORTER FOR THE PALO ALTO TIMES ASSIGIIBD TO CITY
GOVERNMENT
WHEREAS, Jay Thorwaldson has diligently and unselfishly con-
tributed of his time, talents, and energy in service to the citizens
of the City of Palo Alto as a reporter of the Palo Alto Times assigned
to City government from the mid-1960's through 1978; and
WHEREAS, Jay Thorwaldson has accurately and thoughtfully
covered the period of the tumultuous '60is during which period his
reporting of local events was invaluable to his readers; and
WHEREAS, his assignment to City government continued through
1978 at which time he was promoted to a more responsible position
with the Palo Alto Times; and
WHEREASJ Hr. Thorwaldson has always been strongly connnitted
to the publicjs right to know and has applied that commitment in
a manner which provided an opportunity for all sides of an issue to
be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of
Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding and conscientious public
service of Jay Thorwaldeon and records its appreciation as well as
the appreciation of the citizens of this community fer the service
and contributions rendered during the time that Jay Thorwaldson
has been assigned to cover City government.
