PALO ALTO COMMENDING MARY COTXRELL FOR
OtrrSTANDING AND CONSCIENTIOUS SERVICE AS
A MEMBER OF THE HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION

~~ Cottrell has diligently and unselfishly contributed of her time,
tal~ts and energy while serving the City of Palo Alto as a Human
Relations Commissioner from 1970 to 1978; and
Mary Cottrell assisted in the development of many vital community
services in the areas of neighborhood mediation, fair housing, police-
couar.unity relations and youth concerns; and
Mary Cottrell contributed to the community during her tenure by serving
as chairperson from 1973 through 1976, by working to create the Rental
Housing Mediation Task Force, Fair Housing, Inc., and the Palo Alto
Adolescent Sel.'Vices Corpor.a.cion,.by lullpin.g.to develop a close relation-
ship between the City's youth, tha HRC and the Police Department. and
by serving on a variety of·comiU.ssion coumdttees and as leader of a
number of major human· relations· organizations;
NOW, mmum>RE, Q--IT· RESeLVED that the Couucil of the. City of Palo Alto hereby
t:ODmends the lougstan.ding,.8XC-6l..lent and con~i.entious public service
of Mary-Cottrell and records its appreciation as well as the apprecia-
tien of the-citi2ens of this com,uunity for the service and cont-ributions
rendered during her term of· office.
