RESOLUTION OF THE COUUCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AUTBORIZIUG PARTICIPATlOU IU THE CALIFORNIA LIBRARY
SERVICES ACT
lnIEREAS, the City of Palo Alto maintains the Palo Alto City
Library for th~ purposes of meeting informational, educational, and
recreational needs of its residents; and
ln1EREAS, the City of Palo Alto is desirous of improving those
services while deriving the greatest possible benefits of the use of
public funds by:
(a) Providing to its residents access to the materials
and services of other libraries in the state through resource
sharing; and ·
(b) Obtaining the maximum state and federal funding in
support of such sharing; and
(c) AUgt!lenting $ervices to those se&nents of the cormnunity
not presently served; and
lffiEREAS, the California Library Services Board has funds avail-
able under the California Library Services Act (Education Code §§
13700 et seq.) to assisc and support the sharing of library oaterials
and services by California's libraries;
HOl1, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE
as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby authorizes the Palo Alto City
Library to participate in the programs of the California Libr~ry
Services Aot.
SECTION 2. The Council hereby authorizes and directs the
Director of Libraries of the Palo Alto City Library to annually apply
for, and to accept funds, under the California Library Services Act.
