RESOLUTION NO. 5572
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING THE PRESENCE OF, AND WELCOMING TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
OAXACA, OAXACA EXCHANGE STUDENTS ANO GUESTS
WHEREAS, cult~ral exchange resulting from people-to-people corrmunication
is the foundation of the S1ster City Program which attempts to further
international ~ndcrstanding; and
WH£REAS, Oaxaca pays its respects to Palo Alto by sending a group of
twenty-five exchange students and guests; and
WHEREAS, these Oaxaca exchange students and guests are welcomed to the
City of Palo Alto and into the homes of Palo Alto.residents; and
WHEREAS, this cultural exchange participation exemplifies the mutual
objective of the two cities, that of attempting to promote and· encourage and
cultivate understanding between the people of the two c~illlunities; and
WHEREAS, this exchange program has proven to be mutually beneficial;
NOW, THEREFORE the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows!
SECTION 1: That this Council recognizes the presence of, and welcomes
to this coi'll'llunity, exchange students and guests from our Sister City of
Oaxaca.
SECTION 2: That this Council on behalf of the people of Palo Alto
express our heartfelt appreciation to these students and guests for their
warm and significant contribution to the Sister City program.
SECTION 3: That this Council honors and recognizes this exchange
program as a vital element in the perpetuation and continuation of this
program.
