RESOLUTION NO. 5513
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO REPEALING RESOLUTION NO. 5420 WHICH ESTABLISHED A
CITY WATER CONSERVATION RATIONING PROGRAM
WHEREAS, on April 18. 1977, the Council of the City of Palo
Alto adopted Ordinance No. 2979 restricting certain water uses and
declaring a water shortage emergency; and

WHEREAS, to implement Ordinance No. 2979, the Council of the
City of Palo Alto adopted Resolution No. 5420 which established a
water conservation rationing program (Schedule W-6 of ~he City of
Palo Alto Utilities Rates and Charges); and .
'WHERF.AS. unusually high rainfall in northern California during
recent months has replenished the depleted water supplies of the
City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the San Francisco Water Department, supplier of water
for the City of Palo Alto, has declar~d an end to water rationing; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto has declared
that a water shortage emergency in the City of Palo Alto no longer
exists by an ordinance to be first read on February 6, 1978;
NOW, '.L'BEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: -
SECT~ON 1. Resolution No. 5420 adopting Schedule W-6 of City
of· Palo Alto lltilities Rates and Charges and thereby establishing
a water conservation rationing program is hereby repealed.
SECTION 2. Recognizing that long-term water supplies for the
City of Palo Alto and northern California are limited and vulnerable
to future shortages, Palo Alto residents and businesses are strongly
urged to voluntarily continue water conservation in the City of ~P.alo Alto. .
SECTION 3. The Council f indd that none of the provisio1.1s of
this resolutiOD will have a significant adverse enviromnental impact.
