A RESOLUTION OF INTBRTION '1'0 VACATE FUTURE RESIDUAL S'rREET
RIGHTS OP WAY ALONG WILLO;f ROAD (SAND BILL ROAD)
SAND BILL ROAD (FORMERLY WILLOW ROAD)
PROJBCT MO. 74-65
RBSOLV•D, by the Council of the City of Palo Alto, California,
as followsi
1. This Councfi hereby elects to take proceedings to vacate
future residual street righ~a of way along Willow Road (tQ be
rena•ed Sand Bill Road) froa San Prancisquito Creek to Arbor6tUa
Road, as described in Exhibit •A• hereto attached and aade a part
hereof·,-·pursuant to the provisions of Part 3 (ccaaencing with
Section 8300) of Division 9 of the Str~eta and Bighvaya Code '>f the
State of California.

2. The public interest and convenience require, and it ia the
intention of said CounciJ. to order the vacation of said resldusl
street rights ot way as described in Bxbibit •A•.
3. That in the opinion of aalo council tbe said street or
portion thereof herein proposed to be vacated is unnecessary for
present or prospective public street purpoaGs.
4. Por further P.rticulars as to the li>eation of said
residual rights of way proposed to be abandoned, reference is hereby •
aade to those certain plats entitled, respectively, •Residual Parcel
No. 1, Residual Parcel No. 2, Reaidual Parcel No. 3 and Residual
Parcel Ro. 4, Sand Bill Road Project Ro. 74-65 Asaess•ent District•,
which plata are on file in the off ice of the Clerk of the City of
Palo Alto.

~. The Council herehy delermln~B lhat the pub\ le conveni~nce
and necessity require and lhP. City doea hereby reserve and except
from the vacation the permanent easement and right at any time, or
-from time to time, to construct, maintain, operate, repla~~; r~move,
and renew sanitary sewers and storm drains and appurtenant
structures in, upon, over and across said residual street rights of
way propos~d to be vacated and pursuant to any existin9 franchises
or renewals thereof, or otherwise, to construct, maintain, operate,
replace, remove, renew and enlarge lines of pipe, conduits, cables,
wires, poles, and other convenient structures, equipment and
fixtures for t~e operation of gas pipe lines, telegraphic and
telephone lines, railroad lines, and for the transportation or
distribution of electrlc energy, petroleum and its products,
ammonia, water, and incidental purposes, including access and the
right to keep the property free from inflammable materials, and wood
growth, and otherwise pr~tect the same fr~~ all hazards in, upon and
over the residual gtreet rights ~f way propose~ to be vacated. The
prcceedings for vacation of said residual street rights of way are
taken subject t~ such reservatio~a and exceptions.
6. Notice is hereby given that Monday, the 19th day of
~De..._.c_em~h_e_r~~--~' 1977, at 7:30 o'clock p.a. at the Council Chaabers
of the Council of said City Civic Center, 250 &aJtilton Avenue, Palo
Alto, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place when and
where any and all persons interested in or having any objections to
said proposed vacation, may appear before said Council and show
cause why said proposed vacation should not be carried out in
accordance with this Resolution of Intention.
7. The City Clerk shall cause this Resolution of Intention to
be published or posted in the manner preserlbed by law for the
publishing or posting of ordinances of the City.
8. The Superlntendent of Streets or the City Clerk shall
cause Notice of the Pr~poaed Street Vacation to be conspicuously

postP.d alon;J the tine of the portion of the street proposed to he
vacated, at least ten (10) days before the date set for the hearing
by this Resolution. Such notices shall be posted not more than
three hundred (JOU> feet ap~rt, but at least three shall be posted
on the portion proposed to be vacated. such notices shall state the
passage of this Resolution of Intention and the time and place of
the hearing.
