RESOLUTION NO. 5470
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY or PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING nm HISTOlllCAL IMPORTANCE or
EL PALO ALTO TO THE CITY OP' PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, the Tree Committee of Palo Alto has urged the City of Palo
Alto to achieve a leaal classification for El Palo Alto that would
preserve the tree; and
WBEBEAS, the Tree Committee of Palo Al.to -has recODlllellded that the
City of Palo Alto take all uecessary action to implement the care and
preservation of El Palo Alto; and -
WHEREAS, the tree has been declared a point of historic :interest by
Santa Clara County (SCI-026)t deaianating the tree as "El Palo Alto;"
and
WBEREAR, El Palo Alto is the official logo for the City of Palo Alto;
and
WBKBEAS, El Palo Alto plays an important part in the history of
Palo Alto and the surrounding area; and
citi~ens of Palo Alto have identified 'With El Palo Alto
and revered its historic silnificance for many years;
NOW, TBEBBFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo
Alto hereby recognizes the historical value of El Palo Alto, as w~ll as
the importance of the tree to Palo Alto re~idents, and records its
support in preserving and memorialixing El Palo Alto.
