RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING AN APPLICATION FOR HISTORIC PRESERVATION
FUNDS AND A CONTRACT FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF SAID -FUNDS
WHEREAS, the Congress under Public Law 89-665 has authorized
the establishment of a National Historic Preservation Program,
providing matching funds to the State of California and its
political subdivisions for historic preservation, silrvey, plan-
ning. development and acquisition projects; and
WHEREAS, the State Department of Parks and ~ecreation is
responsible for the administration of the program within the
state, setting up necessary rules and procedures governing
application by local agencies under the program; and
WHEREAS, s.aid adopted procedures established by the State
Department.of Parks and Recreation require the local governing
body to approve in writing the applicant's proposal and to agree
that all required local matching funds will be provided for the
project; and
WHEREAS, .the same procedures require the governing body to
certify by .. resolution· the approval of the contract and the
availability of local fund~,to be submitted at the time of the
execution of said contract/~ith the State;

-NOW. THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows;
SECTION l, The Council hereby approves and authorizes the
City Manager to execute a contract between the State Department
of Parks and Recreation and the City of Palo Alto for the City to
conduct, or cause. to be conducted, a local survey of architectural
and historic.al resources, said contract to be in form and sub-
stance substantially similar to the sample contract attached
hereto as EXHIBIT A and incorporated herein by this reference.
Said contract and grant shall be in such amount as will obligate
the City to contribute matching funds in an amount not to exceed
Four Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($4.950.00).
SECTION 2, The Council hereby agrees that ~11 local matching
requirements in funds or contributions of personnel and equipment
will be provided for the project in amounts not less than the
amount of the_ grant.
SECTION 3. The. Council hereby authol'.'_izes submittal of an
application for the above ... mentioned grant funds and appoints
the City Manager, or his designated representat1ve, as agent of the
City for the plirposes of administering ·the above-referenced contract
and to coordinate, process and execute all ancillary documents
within the scope of the project and the contract referred to
above to be executed by and between the State and the City.
SECTION 4. The Council finds that this action does not

mental Quality Act and Title 11 of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code:
