RESOLUTION OF THE COUHCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
SUPPORTING THE ALLOCATION OF FEDERAL FUUDS _FOR TUE
COMPLETION OF THE AUBUR:t • FOLSOU DAM
I \nlEREAS~ the President of the United States, Jimmy Carter,
has recommended the deletion of budgeted funds for certain water
resources projects including the Auburn-Folsom South Unit of
the Central Valley Project; and· -
w1tEREAS, the Auburn-Folsom Hydroelectric Project will play
an important part in meeting the power needs of the Central Valley
Project which is the sole source of electric power for the City
of Palo Alto;· and· ·
WHL ,EAS, hydroelectric power is highly desirable as an inexpen-
sive, renewable, and non-polluting power resource;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The.City of Palo Alto urges that fede~al funds
be allocated tor the completion of the Auburn-Folsom South Unit
of the Central Valley Project upon the satisfactory resolution
of any significan~ safety questions regarding the proposed unit.
§ECTION 2. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby finds
that the enactment of this ·resolution is not a "project" within
the meaning of that term as defineci in Section 11.04.130 of the
Palo Alto Municipal Code and, therefore, no environmental assess-
ment is necessary.
