RESOLUTION NO. ,.JlS • - ORIGINAL RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO URGING VOLUNTARY-ClJR.TAIUIENT OF WATER USAGE IH AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO AT LEAST TEN PER.CENT FOR RESIDEITIAL, COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL USERS AS REQUESTED BY THE SAN FRANCISCO WATER DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, all citizens are acutely aware that the city'1 water supply is basic to jobs, health, housing, recreation and fire safety; and 'WHEREAS, the State of California is facing a water cr11i1 caused by insufficient rainfall for the past two years; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto, as a customer of the San Francisco Water Dspartment, is mandated to enter a voluntary 10 percent reduction of water usage program during thi1 period of drought; and 'WHEREAS, water is most important to all citizen•' living environment and full support should be given to such progr ... to prevent water waste and misuse; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto doea RESOLVE as follows: - SECTION·. l. The Council hereby directs the Director of Utilities to make available the ~idelines attached hereto to all customers of the City of Pal~ Alto's Water-Gas-Sewer Department including, residential, conmercial and industrial users which set forth suggested rules for eliminating water waste, the curtailment of water usage and the promotion of public awareness and support for water conservation. SECTION 2. The Council hereby endorses and supports the mandate of the San Francisco Water Department that all citizens curtail the use of water by at least ten percent. SECnON 3. The Counci.l of the City of Palo Al to hereby finds that tiie enactment of this resolutionis not a "project~' within the meaning of that term as defined in Section 11.04.130 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code~and, therefore, no environmental assessment is necessary . .
