HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 3933• w RESOLUTION NO. 3933 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO REQUESTING THE SANTA CLARA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO EXCHANGE COUNTY EXPRESSWAY PHASE I FUNDS ALLOCATED TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO FOR AN EQUAL AMOUNT OF SANTA CLARA COUNTY FUNDS WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors of Santa Clara County did on December 27, 1960 adopt a policy resolution governing the ex- penditure of bond proceeds to be derived from the $70,000,000 bond issue for the County Expressway System - Phase I, and WHEREAS, said policy resolution allocated the sum of $5,268,000 for the acquisition of right of way for, and the con- struction of, expressways in the City of Palo Alto, of which there remains unexpended the approximate sum of $1,500,000, and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has not agreed to expenditures by the County of said unexpended sum of its Phase I allocation for the projects specified therefor in said Phase I of the County Expressway Program, and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto, in conjunction with the State of California, desires to complete as soon as possible the widen- ing to 120 feet of El Camino Real from approximately Matadero Creek to the southern boundary of the City of Palo Alto and is in need of funds to acquire the additional right of way not provided by the State, and WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara has other funds which it has the power to c pond on said widening of said portion of El Camino Real, and WHEREAS, the County of Santa Clara desires to expend said unexpended sum of the City of Palo Alto's allocation of Phase I expressway funds elsewhere in the County on other segments of said expressway program, • • • NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of. the City of Palo Alto DOES RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. That it proposes to make available to the County of Santa Clara a sum not to exceed $1,500,000 now allocated to the City of Palo Alto under Phase I of said County Expressway Program for expenditure on county expressway projects which may qualify for the expenditure of such funds. SECTION 2. That the proposal set forth in Section 1 of this resolution is conditioned upon the simultaneous and equal transfer of Santa Clara County funds to the City of Palo Alto Special Assessment District Project No. 64-1, "El Camino Real Widening", said funds to be used for the acquisition of right of way. SECTION 3. That the proposal set forth in Section 1 of this resolution is further conditioned on the completion of assessment district proceedings establishing an assessment district for said Project No. 64-1, "E1 Camino Real Widening," with said transfer of funds to take place within thirty days following the date of recordation of assessments for said project. SECTION 4. That the text of this resolution be communicated to the Board of Supervisors by means of the Transportation Policy Committee of the County of Santa Clara with a request that it take action on the matters referred to herein as soon as possible.
