RESOLUTION NO. 4038
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
REQUESTING THE LOCAL. AGENCY FORMATION COMMISSION TO
APPROVE DETACHMENT OF CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED AS "ARASTRADERO HILLS ANNEXATION" FROM
THE LOS ALTOS FIRE DISTRICT
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. The Santa Clara County Local Agency Forma-
tion Commission is requested to approve the herein proposed
detachment of territory from the Los Altos Fire Protection
District, a special district organized under the Fire Pro-
tection District Law of 1961, which territory is more
particularly described in the attached EXHIBIT "A" incorporated
herein and by reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. This application is made pursuant to Division
1 of Title 6 of the California Government Code commonly known
as the District Reorganization Act of 1965.
SECTION 3. The following counties, cities or districts
are affected by this proposal: None.
SECTION 4. The following cities are within three miles
of the exterior boundaries of the territory described in
EXHIBIT "A": City of Los Altos; City of Los Altos Hills;
City of Menlo Park; City of Woodside; City of Portola Valley.
SECTION 5. The territory proposed to be detached
is uninhabited.
SECTION 6. The reason for this proposal is that the
territory described in EXHIBIT "A" has been annexed to the
City of Palo Alto in an annexation proceeding known as
"Arastradero Hills Annexation"; the City will assume
responsibility for fire protection service in this territory
upon its detachmentfromLos Altos Fire Protection District.
SECTION 7. The Council requests that if an election
be required, it be held only in the area to be detached, as
shown in the attached EXHIBIT "A".
SECTION 8. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file a
certified copy of this Resolution with the Executive Officer
of the Santa Clara County Local Agency Formation Commission.

ARASTRADERO HILLS ANNEXATION
TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO (AS AMENDED)
A11 that certain real property situated in the County of
Santa Clara, State of California, and bounded by the following
described line:
Beginning at the most Easterly corner of that certain 220.51
acre tract of land described as Parcel One in that certain deed
from Title Insurance and Trust Company to Sunset International
Petroleum Corporation, dated April 1, 1964 and recorded June 1,
1964 in Book 6525 of Official Records at pages 438 through 444
inclusive; Records of said County, said corner being also an
angle point in the former corporate limits line of the City of
Palo Alto; thence from said point of beginning in a generally
Southwesterly direction along said former corporate limits line
of the City of Palo Alto, said line being also the Southeasterly
line of said Parcel One, to the most Southwesterly corner of said
Parcel One; thence Northeasterly along the Westerly line of said
Parcel One to the most Southerly corner of that certain 10 acre
tract of land conveyed by San Jose Abstract and Title Company to
Herbert P. Tyson, Jr. et ux by deed dated December 11, 1957 and
recorded December 11, 1957 in Book 3958 of Official Records at
page 679, Recorde of said County; thence N. 32° 30' 30° E. 240.58
feet to the Southwesterly corner of that certain 8.60 acre tract
of land described as an exception from said Parcel One; thence
Easterly along the Southerly line of said 8.60 acre parcel and
its Easterly prolongation to the Southwesterly corner of that
certain 6.97 acre parcel of land described in the Deed from
Pacific Resources, Inc., a California corporation, to Ernest C.
Arbuckle and Katherine H. Arbuckle, his wife, dated June 13, 1962
and recorded January 29, 1963 in Book 5884 Official Records,
Page 479, Records of said County; thence Easterly along the
Southwesterly line of said 6.97 acre parcel and of that certain

7.00 acre parcel and of that certain 7.32 acre parcel, as said
parcels were described as exceptions from said Parcel One, to
the Southeasterly corner of said 7.32 acre parcel; thence North-
easterly along the Southeasterly line of said_7.32 acre parcel
to the Easterly corner thereof; thence Southeasterly along -
said former corporate limits_line to the point of beginning,
containing 220.51 acres, more or less.
