HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4032• • RESOLUTION NO. 4032 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO COMMENDING THE PALO ALTO POLICE RESERVE FOR TWENTY- FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF PALO ALTO WHEREAS, on December 8, 1941, the Police Auxiliary Force of Palo Alto was organized under the joint leadership of Marion R. Jewell and Milton Bevilockway to give assistance in time of need to the Palo Alto Police Department; and WHEREAS, the Auxiliary force became the Palo Alto Police Reserve on March 21, 1947, and grew to impressive size and stature with more than 170 men participating at one time or another and 40 men currently serving as active members; and WHEREAS, these trained men, with the same authority and duties and obligations as the Palo Alto Police Department, gave generously of their time and energies to support their local peace officers and gain a better understanding of police problems and of society itself; and WHEREAS, a total of 4,912•hours were volunteered last year alone by the Palo Alto Police Reserve in support of local police operations and many uncounted hours were accumulated by these alert men as they listened and watched for law violations or emergencies during all of their waking hours; and WHEREAS, the Palo Alto Police Reserve has reached a mile- stone of twenty-five years of service in an outstanding and in- spiring manner to the safety and peacefulness of mind of the citizens of Palo Alto. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the Palo Alto Police • Reserve and each of its present and past members who have served Palo Alto so faithfully in such demanding capacities.
