RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO + U+ i
ENDORSING THE STANFORD SUMMER FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS
WHEREAS, Stanford University has sponsored a Summer
Festival of the Arts which has attracted national and inter-
national attention because of its high artistic standards,
imaginative programming, and breadth of coverage of the perform-
ing arts; and
WHEREAS, said Festival has brought renown to the City
of Palo Alto and has afforded an unusual opportunity for its
citizens to see a wide variety of artistic performances of the
highest professional caliber; and
WHEREAS, said Festival has combined the academic program
and the public service program of Stanford University with the
finest professional artistry in the world, with consequent
benefit to those in our community who actively participate in
the performing arts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto does hereby commend Stanford University for
its public awareness, originality and initiative in creating
and sponsoring such a unique artistic endeavor, and does most
enthusiastically endorse the Stanford Summer Festival of the
Arts as being an important and vital contribution to the cul-
tural life and endeavors of our community and of the entire
western United States.
