HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 4008• .71n t ;fi !' .• 0, j r 7i •i���i .+ f RESOLUTION NO. 4008 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO ADOPTING A COMPENSATION PLAN (Effective July 3, 1967) The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Compensation Plan, as set forth in EXHIBIT A attached hereto and made a part hereof, is hereby adopted. SECTION 2. The Compensation Plan shall be administered by the City Manager in accordance with the Merit System Rules and Regulations, provided that the Council shall administer the Compensation Plan for the City Assessor, City Attorney, City Clerk, City Controller and City Manager. SECTION 3. The Compensation Plan shall become effective July 3, 1967 and shall continue in effect until amended or revoked by the Council. SECTION 4. This resolution supersedes Resolution 3926 and all amendments thereof. SALARY RANGES There are two types of salary ranges in the Compensation Plan, the Classified Salary Ranges and the Administrative Salary Ranges, and their bi-weekly equivalents, as set forth in this section. For the purpose of merit salary advancement, the following are the steps and time intervals which shall apply to the Classified Salary Ranges, except as otherwise provided: Steps Time Interval A Beginning rate. B After 6 months on next lower step. C After 1 year on next lower step. D After 1 year on next lower step. E After 1 year on next lower step. In administering this plan, the City Manager is authorized to make appointments to, or establish employees on, any one of the steps indicated above if in his opinion it would be difficult to ob- tain or retain qualified personnel. Administrative Salary Ranges are formulated with a minimum and maximum within which the City Manager is authorized to establish a salary at any point within the range. Salaries paid to personnel in either the Classified or the Administrative Ranges shall be administered in accordance with the Compensation Plan, the Merit System Rules and Regulations, and such administrative procedures as may be issued by the City Manager from time to time for purpose of clarification and interpretation. Payment of salaries set forth in this Compensation Plan shall be made in accordance with the Table of Bi-weekly Equivalents based upon a year, for compensation purposes, of 364 days, pursuant to the bi-weekly pay periods provided by the Merit System Rules and Regulations. In the event time is required beyond two and one-half hours in one day, an additional $6.00 will be paid for this additional time. Police Reserves The following compensation shall be paid for Police Reserve duty: 1. Police Reserves voluntarily in training: 75C per hour payable to the City of Palo Alto Police Reserve organization. 2. Police Reserves assigned to regular police duty: pro rata of Step A of the Police Officer's salary range. G. Expense Allowance City Manager - $150.00 per month.
