RESOLUTION NO. 3976
A RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION UNDER
DIVISION 4 OP THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE
EL CAMINO REAL PROJECT NO. 64-1
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Palo Alto, California,
as follows:
1. That it is hereby preliminarily determined that the public
interest, convenience and necessity require and that it is the inten-
tion of this Council to undertake certain acquisitions and improve-
ments within said City and to assess the cost thereof on lands bene-
fited thereby.
2. That the general nature, location and extent of the proposed
acquisitions and improvements are as follows:
a) The acquisition of easements necessary to obtain a uniform
right-of-way width of 120 feet, including the acquisition
of strips of land in excess of the land actually needed for
street purposes lying oi.tside of the proposed 120 -foot
right -►of -way and necessary to be acquired in order to avoid
severance damage, for the purpose of providing on -street
parking areas for local use and benefit along El Camino Real
from Matadero Creek to the southerly City limits of the City
of Palo Alto, and the improving thereof by grading, removing
trees, bushes and existing structures, constructing or re-.'
constructing Portland cement concrete curbs, gutters, side-
walks and driveway aprons, constructing base pavement and
wearing surface, the installation of street lighting facil-
ities, storm drain pipe, catch basins, inlet structures and
appurtenances, together with the acqulsition•of,all ease-
ments and the construction of all improvements auxiliary to
any of the above and necessary to complete the same.
3. That reference is hereby made to the maps and plats showing
the nature, location and extent of said acquisitions and improvements.
for a further description of said work and for all particulars rela-
tive thereto, which maps are on file in the office of the City Clerk
and open to public inspection..
4. That the cost of said acquisitions and improvements together
with the expenses incidental thereto, shall be assessed upon the dis-
trict benefited thereby, the exte'lor boundaries of which are
described and defined by reference to a plat on file in the office of

the City Clerk entitled "Map Showing Boundaries of Proposed Assess-
ment District, Project No. 64-1". Said map indicates by a boundary
line the extent of the territory included in the proposed district
and shall govern for all details as to the extent of the assessment
district.
5. That the Council hereby declares that the lands of the City
of Palo Alto used for fire station purposes and located within the
boundaries of said proposed assessment district shall be included in
the assessment and assessed for its share of the cost of said acqui-
sitions and improvements in proportion to benefits.
6. The proceedings for said acquisitions and improvements shall
be conducted pursuant to Division 4 of the Streets and Highways Code,
(the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority Protest
Act of 1931), and Division 12 of said Code (the Municipal Improvement
Act of 1913), and bonds shall be issued pursuant to Division 10 of
said Code (the Improvement Bond Act of 1915).

I hereby certify that the foregoing.is a full, true and correct
copy of a resolution duly passed -and adopted. by the Council of the
City of Palo Alto, California, at a meeting -thereof held on the 3rd
day of April
