RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
LENDING SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY -WIDE "STAMP OUT CRIME
CRUSADE"
WHEREAS, the Independent Insurance Agents Association
of Palo Alto, a non-profit corporation, has petitioned the
Council to sponsor a "Stamp Out Crime Crusade" throughout the
Community, and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto wishes
to encourage public support of its law enforcement officers,
and
WHEREAS, the "Stamp Out Crime Crusade" is a program
designed to encourage citizens to do their duty in combatting
the criminal element,
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto
does RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto
commends the Independent Insurance Agents Association for
their interest in sponsoring and:leading.a:local program to be
known as the "Stamp Out Crime Crusade".
SECTION 2. The Council hereby authorizes the Inde-
pendent Insurance Agents Association to work with the Palo
Alto Police Department in sponsoring and furnishing the
necessary leadership for a positive program throughout the
City of Palo Alto designed to encourage citizens to do their
duty in combatting crime and specifically to:
(1) Acknowledge and discharge their obligations as
good citizens by observing the laws and to encourage others
todoso.
(2) To report to the nearest law enforcement officer any
evidence of a crime being committed or having been committed.

(3) To aid law enforcement officers in distress at
their request and direction.
(4) To solicit the assistance and cooperation of all
local civic, service, business, trade and other groups.
(5) To recommend public commendation by the Council
of the City of Palo Alto citizens and groups who perform out-
standing deeds in the maintenance of law and order.
