A RESOLUTION OF PRELIMINARY DETERMINATION UNDER
DIVISION 4 OF THE STREETS AND HIGHWAYS CODE
CALIFORNIA AVENUE AREA PARKING PROJECT N0. 65-9
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Palo Alto, California,
as follows:
1. That it is hereby preliminarily determined that the public
interest, convenience and necessity require and that it is the inten-
tion of this Council to undertake certain acquisitions and improve-
ments within said City and to assess the costs thereof on the lands
benefited thereby.
2. That the general nature, location and extent of the pro-
posed acquisitions and improvements are as follows:
a) The construction of a multi -story off-street motor
vehicle parking garage on the existing parking lot
of the California Avenue Area Parking District
bounded southwesterly, southeasterly and northeast-
erly by alleys and northwesterly by Cambridge Avenue.
b) The acquisition of the southwesterly 121.37 feet of
the southeasterly 130 feet of the block bounded by
California Avenue, Birch Street, Sherman Avenue and
Ash Street, and the improving thereof as an off-street
motor vehicle parking lot and of existing public ways
to be used for ingress thereto and egress therefrom,
by grading and the construction therein of base pave-
ment, wearing surface, curbs, gutters, drainage
facilities, lighting facilities, striping, landscaping
and all auxiliary work necessary to complete the same
as off-street automobile parking facilities.
c) The acquisition of ull lands, easements and facili-
ties and the construction of all work auxiliary to
any of the above and necessary to complete the same.
3. That reference is hereby made to the map or plat showing
the nature, location and extent of said acquisitions and Improve-
ments for a further description of said work and for all particulars
relative thereto, which map is on file in the office the City
Clerk and open to public inspection.
4. That the cost of said acquisitions and improvements,
together with the expenses incidental thereto, shall be assessed
upon the district benefited thereby, the exterior boundaries of which
are described and defined by reference to a plat on file in the
office of the City Clerk, entitled "Map Showing Boundaries of Pro-
posed Assessment District, Project No. 65-9". Said map indicates
by a boundary line the extent of the territory included in the
proposed district and shall govern for all details as to the extent
of the assessment district.
5. The proceedings for said acquisitions and improvements
shall be conducted pursuant to Division 4 of the Streets and Highways
Code (the Special Assessment Investigation, Limitation and Majority
Protest Act of 1931) and Sections 40.404 and 40.405 of Division 4
of the Palo Alto Municipal Code, the Palo Alto Improvement Procedure
Code; and bonds shall be issued pursuant to Bond Plan G, Section
40.507 of Division 5 of said Code; provided, however, that there
shall be no specific lien assessments levied as provided in said
Bond Plan G in connection with said acquisitions and improvements.

I hereby certify that the foregoing is a full, true and correct
copy of a resolution duly passed and adopted by the Council of the
City of Palo Alto, California, at a meeting thereof held on the 3rd
day of January, 1967, by the following vote of the members thereof:
