RESOLUTION NO. 5181 -
RESOLUTIOH OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
ADOPTING A COMPENSATION PLAN FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT
PERSONNEL (EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 21, 1973) FOR THE
BALANCE OF FISCAL YEAR 1975-1976 AUD A PORTION OF
FISCAL YEAR 1976-1977, ENDING DECEMBER 18, 1976
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of
Articfe fft ol the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the
Compensation Plan, as set forth iri EXHIBIT A, attached hereto
and made a part hereof by reference, is adopted for Fire
Department personnel for the balance of fiscal year 1975-1976
and a portion of fiscal year 1976-1977, ending December 18,
1976.
SECTION 2. The Compensation Plan adopted herein shall be
administered by the City Manager in accordance with the Merit ·
System Rules and Regulations.
SECTION 3. The Compensation Plan shall become effective
December 2t, !975. and shall continue in effect until December 18,
1976, or until amended Qr revoked by the Council.
SECTION 4. The City Controller is authorized to implement
the Compensation .Plan adopted herein in his preparation of
forthcoming payrolls and to make any necessary retroactive _
adjustments to employees' pay to reflect the effective date of
December 21, 1975. He is further authori~ed to make changes
to the titles of employee classifica..t;io~s identified in the
Table of Authorized Personnel contained in the affeeted budgets
if such titles have been changed by·the Compensation Plan.
SECl'ION 5. The Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby
finds that tlie enactment of this resolution is not a "project"
within the meaning of that term as 4efined in Section 11.04.130
of the Palo Alto Municipal Code and, therefore, no environmental
assessment is necessary.

SECTION 6. For all Fire Department personnel covered in EXHIBIT A. all previous resolutions and all amendments thereof
are hereby rescinded (Resolution 5075).

A. Annual Adjustment
Annually, each employee who holds a regular full-time appointment
in the municipal service on or before July first and continues in
such status through the first day of Pay Period No. 25 (in
December) shall receive, in additfon to the salary prescribed
herein, a salary adjustment equal to one percent of the employee's
-current annual salary. Annual adjustments shall be prorated to
reflect appointment from January l through July 1 of the current
year, or interrupted service during the year. ·
B. Overtime 2 Working Out of Classification, and In-Lieu Holiday Pay
Compensation for overtime work, working out of classification and
scheduled work on paid holidays shall be in conformance with the
Merit Rules and Regulations and Administrative Directives.
