R.ECOGJHZINC THE PRESENCE OF OAXACA, OAX., EXCHANGE STUDENTS AND
OFFICE OF THE CITY MANAGElfELCO'-tlNG T~ TO THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
WHEREAS, cultural exchange resulting from people-to-people communication
·is the foundation of the Sister City.Program which attempts to further inter-
national understanding; and .
WHEREAS, Oaxaca pays its resp~cts to p,10 Alto by sending.a gr()UJ> of
sixteen exchange students; and
WHEREAS, these Oaxaca exchange students are welcomed to the City of Palo
Alto and into the homes of Palo Alto residents; and
..
WHEREAS, this cultural exchange participation exemplifies the mutual
objective of the two cities, that of attempting to promote and encourage and
cultivate understanding between the people of the two communities; and
WHEREAS, this exchange progrima has proven to be mutually beneficial;
NOW, ~RE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1: That this Council recognizes the presence of, and welcomes
to this community, exchange students ~r~ our Sister City of Oaxaca.
SECTION 2: That this Council on behalf of the people of Palo Alto express
our heartfelt appreciation to these students for their wann. and significant
cont~ibution to the Sister City program. •
. SECTION 3:. That this Council ~onors and recognizes this exchange program
as a vital element in the perpetuation and continuation of this program.
