SHA.1lE OF SECOND YEAR PROJECT FUHDING FOR THE FEDERA~
GRANT TO STUDY ALTERNATIVE POLICE UNESTit;ATORY f
PROCEDURES FOR RAPE -J
WHEREAS, on July 22, 1974, the Council of the City of Palo
Alto approved the expenditure of Palo Alto's share of project
funding for the one-year federal grant whereby the Palo Alto
Police Department has been studying alternative police investi-
gatory procedures for rape; and
WHE~S, funding for a second year of said project will be
available through the Omnibus Crime and Safe Streets Act of 1968
(PL 90-55, as amended PL 91-644) administered by the California
Council on Criminal Justice; and
WHEREA3, the Council of the c;.ty of Palo Alto desires to
provide Palo Alto's share of funcing for a second year of said
project once the first year funding is expended, approximately
on August 31, 1975;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby
RESOLVES as follows:
SEL l \N 1. That the City Manager is hereby authorized to
submit"""tn~ attached Application for Grant for Law Enforcement
Purposes to the California Council on Criminal Justicei and-
SECTION 2. That once the California Council of Criminal
Justice consents to €econd-year funding for the project. the
Council of the City of Palo Alto will effectuate the second
year of said project-as outlined in the attached Application.
SECTION 3. That once the California Council on Criminal
Justice consents to second-year funding for the project. the
Council of the City of Palo Alto will authorize the City Manager
to execute the contract and any amendments thereto for the Grant
for Law Enforcement Purposes.
SECTION 4. That -the Council of the City of Palo Alto
agrees to provide the required matching funds to said project.
SECTION 5. That funds received pursuant to the project
-grant shall not be used to supplant ongoing enforcement ex-
penditures.
