RESOLUTION OF THE ~OUNCIL OF THE ~ITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING SCHEDULE G-.l (GAS RATES) OF THE CITY OF
PALO ALTO UTILITIES RATES AND CHARGES
WHEREAS, recently the California Public Utilities Commission
heard and granted sev~ral wholesale g~s rate increases to Pacific
Gas & Electric Company as "offsets" and "tracking"; and
WHEREAS, said offsets include fluctuations in the cost of
gas to Pacific Gas & Electric Company from ce::tain producing
companies, tax law changes, exchange rate cha:19es, and similar
items affecting the cost of q~s to Pacific Gas & Electric CompanyJ
and
WHEREAS, in addition-co offsets, other increases, commonly
known as "tracking," are aut•..,~ized to be effective in the fut1.1re
when and if the Federal ~owe1 Commission grants requested rate
increases to gas producers; and
WHEREAS, further applications are p~nd:i.ng or exp~_cted to be
filed; ai.1d
WHEREAS, it is desirable for the City of Palo Alto to adjust
. its gas rates :p.~omotl~.-YitO_n~encement _ _of_an _incr.aase from ____ _
Pacific Gas & Electric Campany in order to avoid loss of revenue;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of. the City of Palo Alto hereby_,
RESOLVE3 as follows:
SECTION l. Until December 31, 1975, the City Manager hereby
is authorized to adjust the gas rates of the City_ of Palo Alto
contained on Schedule G-1 of the City of Palo Alto Utilities R3tes
and Charges to substantially conform, but no~ to exceed, those
rates contained on Pacific Gas & Electric Company General Service
Rate G-2, applicable to the East Bay, Peninsula-San Jose, anu
Sacramento geographical areas. The effective uate of said adjust-
ments to Schedule G-1 shall be the same date on-which the whole-
sale rate i~creases from Pacific Gas & Electric Company become
effective for the City.
SECTION 2. Said rate a9justments may b~ made by the City
Manag~r to conform with offs~t~and tracking increases granted,
~ previously granted, or which may be y~anted and placed into effect
during_ .sai.a. period and shall be limited to a maximum of ten per-
cent (10%) over the existing rates currently contained in Schedule
G-1 of the Palo Alto Utilities Rates and Charges. This resolution
shall not affect· any increa~~ granted to Pacific Gas & Electric
Company in its rate of return or in-rates and churges to produce
its existing author~zed rate of return, other than as offset or

tracking increases. The Ci~y Manager shall report any change in
gas rates authorized by this resolution to the City Council as
soon as practicable.
