RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE VACATION OF
AN UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL UTILITIES EASEMENT AND
SETTING A PUBLIC HEARING THEREON (EASEMENT NO. 668)
WHEREAS, pursuant to previous agreement between the City of
Palo Alto and the Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior
University, the City of Palo Alto acquired the easement described
below; and
WHEREAS, due to certain circumstances relating to the topog-
raphy of the land involved and the desires of the tenant of said
land, the underground electrical utilities were installed in
certain areas not covered by the grant of the easement; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior
University has tendered to the City of Palo Alto an executed Grant
of Easement containing a description of the easement which corres-
ponds to the areas where said underground electrical utilities
have been installed;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. It is the intention of the Council of the.City
of Palo Alto to vacate the easement acquired on January 21, 1969,
from THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LELAND STANFORD JUNIOR UNIVERSITY
and consented to by VARIAN ASSOCIATES, designated in the City of
Palo Alto's records as Easement No. 668, and acquired for the
purpose of installation, maintenan·ce, and operation of under-
ground electrical utilities and appurtenances thereto, over and
across that certain parcel of land situate in the c~.ty of Palo Alto,
County of Santa Clara, State of California, as des~ribed in
Exhibit "A" and as set forth on a map entitled Exhibit 11 B", both
attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. Monday, the 16th day~of December, 1974, at
7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambera, Civic Cente~,-Palo Alto, California,

• • is set as the time and place of hearing where and when any person
having an interest in such proceedings may appear and be heard
either for or against such vacation.
SECTION 3. All the .proceedings for the vacation of said ease-
ment shall be conducted .pursuant .to Article .s. (commencing wi.th-Section.
50430) Chapter 2, Part 1, Division 1, Title 5 of the Government Code
of the State of California.
SECTION 4. The City Engineer is.directed to post notices
of the interest to vacate consptcuously along the easement to be
vacated as described in Section.l.hereof at least ten (10) days .be-
fore the hearing, posting them no .. more than three hundred . (300). feet
apart, but there shall be at least three (3) notices posted •.. Such
notices shall state the passage of this resolution of intention and
the time and place of the hearing.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk is.directed.to.publish .a copy of this
resolution in the Palo Alto .Times once each week prior to the date of
hearing.

ELECTRICAL UTILITIES EASEMENT PROPOSED TO BE VACATED
The electrical utilities easement proposed to be vacated
was recorded February 6, 1969, in Book 8427 at page 238, Official
Records of Santa Clara County, California, as Document No. 3565322,
said easement being property situated in the City of Palo Alto,
County of Santa Clara, State of California, a strip of land ten
(10) feet in width lying equally on each side of the centerlines,
which are described as follows:
PARCEL 1
Beginning at the intersection point of the south-
westerly line of El Camino Real (120 feet wide) and
the center line of Hansen Way (80 feet wide). Said
point of intersection is marked by an iron rail road
spike with cross mark; thence s. 33° 21• w. along
said centerline 1526.28 feet; thence s. 41° 21• W.
59.90 feet to the True Point of Beqinning, said
last-narned point being on the southerly line of said
Hansen Way; thence continuing s. 41° 21' w. 79.65
feet, to a point hereinafter referred to as Point A;
thence s. 23° 41' w. 508.89 feet; thence s. 29° 49'
W. 388 feet, more or less, to a point on the north-
easterly curved line of Hanover Street (80 feet
wide}.
PARCEL 2
Beginning at Point A described in Parcel 1 above and
~unning thence N. 11° 29' W. 64.59 feet, more or less,
to a point on the southerly line of Hansen Way (80
feet wide).
