RESOLUTION NO. 5028
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE VACATION OF
AN OVERHEAD POWER LINE EASEMENT AND SETTING A PUBLIC
HEARING THEREON (EASEMENT NO • 3 4 2) ·
WHEREAS, pursuant to previous agreement the City of Palo Alto
acquired the easement described below for overhead power line
purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has undergrounded said utilitie9;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto has received an executed Grant
of Easement for the undergrounding of said utilities:
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. It is the intention of the Council of the City
of Palo Alto to vacate the easement acquired on June 12, 1958,
from THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LELAND STANFORD JUNIOR .tJNIVERSITY,
BECKMAN INSTRUMENTS, INC., and SCIENTIFIC BOOK SERVICE, designated
in the City of Palo Alto's records as Easement No. 342, and ac-
quired for the purpose of installation, maintenance, and operation
of an overhead power line and appurtenances thereto, vver and
across that certain parcel of land situate in the City of Palo
Alto, County of Santa Clara, State of California, as described
in Exhibit "A" and as set forth on a map entitled Exhibit "B",
both attached hereto and by reference made a part hereof.
SECTION 2. Monday, i..ne J.6tl:.-day of December, 1974, at 7:30
p.m. in the Council Chambers, ~ivic Center, 250 Hamilton Avenue,
Palo Alto, Califorfiia, is set as the time and place of hearing
where and when any person having an interest in-such proceedings
may appear and be heard either for or against such vacation.

SECTION 3. All proceedings for the vacation of said ease-
ment shall be conducted pursuant to Atticle 5 (commencing'with
Section 50430), Chapter 2, Part 1, Division l, Title S of the
Government Code of the State of California.
SECTION 4. The City Engineer is directed to post notices
of this intention to vacate conspicuously along the easement to
be vacated as described in Section 1 hereof at least ten (10)
days before the hearing, posting them no more than three hundred
(300) feet apart, but there shall be at least three (3) notices
posted. Such notices shall state the passage of this resolution
of intention and the time and place of hearing.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk is directed to publish a copy of
this resolution in the Palo Alto Ti~s once each week prior to
the date of hearing.

POWER LINE EASEMENT PROPOSED TO BE VACATED
The power line easement proposed to be vacated wa~ recorded
July 3, 1958, in Book 4114 at page 13, Official Records of
Santa Clara County, California, as Docwnent No. 1487915, said
easement being property situated in the City of Palo ___ Alto~
County of Santa Clara, State of California, being a strip of
land ten (10) feet in width measured at right angles, the
center line of which is described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the Southeasterly line of
California Avenue at the most Westerly corner of that
certain 5.479 acre tract of land described in the
memorandum of lease executed by and between the Board
of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University,
Lessor, and Beckman Instruments, Inc., Lessee, dated
December 28, 1955, recorded January 11, 1956 in Book
3384 of Official Records at page 14, Santa Clara County
Records1 THENCE along the Southwesterly line of said
5.479 acre parcel South 56° 39' East 665.36 feet;
THENCE South 56° 26' 07" East 564.82 feet to the
Northwesterly line of Page Mill Road (120.00 feet in
width).
