RJ:SOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PALO ALTO HONORING MRS. MARY DENISON WILT THOMAS
UPON THE OCCASION OF HER ONE HUNDREDTH BIRTHDAY,
AND IN APPRECIATION FOR HER PUBLIC SERVICE

MARY DENISON WILT THOMAS is celebrating the one hundredth
anniversary of her birth on November 19th of this year; and
MARY DENISON WILT TBC»IAS served this cQmmunity tirelessly as
the first woman elected to the City Council (1919-1923); as
Acting Mayor (1920), as Planning Cotmnissioner (1927-1929);
and finally as a member of the Public Safety Board
(1926-1931); and
Through her dedication and inspiration, Palo Alto has con-
tinued to flourish as a city in which full citizen partici-
pation is both encouraged and practiced; and
While a member of the Public Safety Board, MARY DENISON
WILT THOMAS encouraged and aided the growth of excellent
police and fire departments in the 1920's; and the superb
health and hospital facilities which came to be Palo Alto's;
NOW, TBEREP'OR.E, IB IT RESOLVED that this Council hereby honors MARY
DENISON WILT THOMAS upon the occasion of her one hundredth
birthdar, for the legacy of public service she has p•ssed
on to us, and to the future generations of Palo Altans.
