RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING AND ADOPTING AN EXPERIMENTAL DIAGONAL
PARJ<ING PLAN ON UNIVERSITY AVENUE BETWEEN BRYANT
STREET AND WAVERLEY STREET
WHEREAS, Downtown Palo Alto, Inc., through its Board of
Directors has requested than an experimental diagonal parking
plan be implemented and tested on University Avenue as dis-
played on EHXIBIT A, a map entitled •oowntown University Avenue
Experimental Diagonal Parking Plan, Bryant to Waverley," at
the location shown on EXHIBIT B, a map entitled "Downtown
Temporary Traffic Plan•; and
WHEREAS, said experimental diagonal parking plan would test
whether diagonal parking on downtown University Avenue is workable
and feasible with respect to impact on traffic flow and circula-
tion, traffic accident rates, service headways for the Santa Clara
County District buses, and emergency vehicle response times1 and
WHEREAS, the current rerouting of traffic associated with
the •oowntown.Beautification Project" provides a timely oppor-
tunity to implement said experimental diagonal parking plan for
a period of six months without causing any increased inconvenience
to the public:
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
1. The Council does hereby approve and adopt said EXHIBIT A
-RDowntown University Avenue Experimental Diagonal Parking Plan,
Bryant to Waverley,N which is attached hereto, at the location as
shown on EXHIBIT B -"Downtown Temporary Traffic Plan," which is
attached hereto.
