RESOLUTIPN OF Tim COUNCIL OF 1'llE CITY OF PALO ALTO
RECOGNIZING OAXACA, OAXACA, EXCHANGE STUDENTS
TO THE CITY OP PALO ALTO
ORIGINAL:.
WBEBEAS, cultural exchange resulting from people-to-people c011111unication
is the foundation of the Sister City Program which·attempta to further inter-
national understanding; and
WHEREAS, Oaxaca pays its respects to Palo Alto by sending a group of
seventeen exchange students; and
WBEBEAS, these Oaxaca exchange students are welcomed to the City of Palo
Alto and into the homes of Palo Alto residents; and
WHEREAS, this cllltur.al exchange participation exemplifies the mutual ob-
jective of the. two cit~es, that of attempting to promote and encourage and cul-
tivate understanding between the people,of the two c01llllU11ities; and
WHEREAS, this exchange program baa proven to be mutually beneficial;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does RESOLVE a.s
follows:
SECTION 1: 'l'hat this Council recognizes the presence of, and welcomes
to this community, exchange students from our Sister City of Oaxaca.
· SECTION 2: That this Council on behalf of the people of Palo Alto express
our heartfelt appreciation to these persous for their warm and significant con-
tribution to the Sister City prograa.
SECTION 3: Tb.at thia COunc.11 honors and recopizea thi.s exchange prograa
as a vital elemant in the pe~tuatiQD and cODtinuatiou of this prograa.
