RESOLUTION NO. 4942
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALO
IN SUPPORT OF THE PASSAGE OF PROPOSITION 1, THE
STATE 3EACH, PARK, RECREATIONAL, AND HISTORICAL
FACILITIES BOND ACT OF 1974, AUTHORIZING A $250
MILLION BOND ISSUE TO ACQUIRE AND DEVELOP LANDS
FOR RECREATIONAL PURPOSES, TO BE CONSIDERED BY
THE VOTERS AT THE JUNE 4, 1974, PRIMARY ELECTION
WHEREAS, Proposition 1, the State Beach, Park, Recreational,
and Historical Facilities Bond Act of 1974, would authorize the
. issuance and sale of state bonds in an amount not to. exceed
$250,000,000, under the State General Obligation Bond Law; and
WHEREAS, bond proceeds would.be appropriated in the
annual state budget bill for the acquisition and development
of lands for parks, beaches, recreational·areas, historical pur-
poses, and wildlife management, and to develop historical
resources; and
wHEREAS, grants for the acquisition and development of such
property for park, recreation areas, beach, a~dnistorical purposes
could be made available to cities and counties if this measure
is approved by the voters; and
WHEREAS, if this measure is adopted, statutes enacted by
the Legislature will appropriate funds for certain state park
system acquisition projects;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
· ., '·oiECTION 1. The adoption of Proposition 1 by vote of the
people at the June 4, 1974 election is in the best interests of
the people of this state and the residents of the City of Palo
Alto.
SECTION 2. The Coimcil of the City of Palo Alto urges
passage of this measure by a vote FOi. Proposition 1.
