RESOLUTION NO. 4883
RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXTENDING A WELCOME AND BEST WISHES TO THE CAULFIELD
GRAMMAR SCHOOL BASKETBALL TEAM FROM CAULFIELD,
VICTOrtIA, AUSTRALIA, DURING THEIR TOUR OF CALIFORNIA,
U.S.A.
WHEREAS, the Caulfield Grammar School Basketball Team from
the City of Caulfield in Victoria, Australia, did visit the State
of California and engage in basketball games with various schools,
including in particular schools in Palo Alto and the surrounding
area; and
WHEREAS, this group, consisting of the Varsity and Junior
Varsity.Teams, on their own initiative raised funds to make this
tour possible for the purpose of.stimulating interest in the game
of basketball in Australia and cont1ibuting to mutual understanding
of other countriesi and
WHEREAS, this group of fine young men played the game of
basketball well, exhibited good sportsmanship and demonstrated
the tradition of goodwill and friendship between our two countriesi
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council, on behalf of all of the people
of the City of Palo Alto, hereby extends its welcome to the
Caulfield Grammar School Teams and to their Coaches, Milton
Anderson, Harry Clark, SrD, and Harry Clark, Jr.
SECTION 2~ The City Council commends this group and wishes
them success in their efforts to stimulate interest in the gaJLe
of basketball which is so popular in our country.

SECTION 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to forward a copy of this resolution to the Headmaster of Caulfield
Grammar School and to the Mayor and Council of the City of Caulfield.
