RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO AL'I'O
EXTENDING BEST WISHES FOR SUCCESS TO THE CUBBERLEY
HIGH SCHOOL MUSIC STUDENTS IN THEIR "WINGS TO OAXACA"
PROJECT AND URGING PAR'l'ICIPATION AND ASSISTANCE IN
THEIR FUND RAISING EFFORTS
WHEREAS, the Cubberley High School Music Students are
planning a trip to Mexico City and Oaxaca during the week of
April 23 to May 1, 1974; and
WHEREAS, the primary purpose of this trip is to acquaint
our Palo Alto students with the people and culture of these cities
in Mexico and to share with them our forms of chorale singing,
chamber music, band concert music, jazz music and the marching
band; and
WHEREAS, it is hoped to bring the people of Palo Alto and
our sister city Oaxaca closer together through this mutual exchange
of music and culture: and
WHEREAS, approximately $35,000 is needed to take 110 music
students on this trip and the "Wings to Oaxaca" project consists
of various fund raising projects to raise this money;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Couricil of the City of Palo Alto does
RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION l& The City Council, on behalf of all of the people
of th~ City of Palo Alto, hereby extends its best wishes for
success to the Cubberley High School music students in their
project "Wings to Oaxaca".
SECTION 2. The City Council hereby urges all persons and
organizations in the Palo Alto area to participate and support
the "Wings to Oaxaca" project in its fund raising efforts.
. -SECTION 3. The City Clerk hereby is authorized and directed
to forward a copy of this resolution to MR. KENNETH PETERS,
Chorale and Orchestra Director of the Cubberley Music DepaLtment.
