Resolution No. 9518
Resolution of the Council of the City of Palo Alto Approving the City's Submittal of
a Functional Classification Change for Local Streets to the State of California,
Department of Transportation
The Council of the City of Palo Alto RESOLVES, as follows:
SECTION 1. California incorporated cities are responsible for initiating requests for changes
to the functional classification of streets and roads under their jurisdictions.
SECTION 2. The City of Palo Alto receives State and Federal road improvement and
maintenance funding based on street and road designation.
SECTION 3. The Functional Classification Change, as set forth in the attached Exhibits A and
B, has been reviewed by the City staff and considered by the City Council.
SECTION 4. The Council finds that it is in the City's interest and the public's interest in the
health, safety and welfare of the community to seek a functional classification change for the streets set
forth in Exhibits A and B.
SECTION 5. The Council hereby authorizes the City Manager or his designee, the Director
of Public Works, to complete and submit the Functional Classification Change request to the State of
California, Department of Transportation.

SECTION 6. The submission of the requested functional classification change for the local
streets in Palo Alto does not constitute a "project" under the California Environmental Quality Act or the
CEQA Guidelines; therefore, no environmental assessment is required.
