AD/OURNMENT IN MEMORY OF., BIRGE_QW Council Member Woolley said Birge Clark parsed away on April 30, 1989. He was born on April 16, 1893, which wade him, to the day, one year older than the City of Palo Alto. He gave Palo Alto some of its favorite buildings, many of which were in a style liked very much by the City and which were currently being simulated by the developers of the newest buildings in the downtown. Three of his buildings were on the National Register of Historic Places. His written records provided commentary about all his commercial and buildings; problems in the developing of the design; or interesting notes, on the clients. He also had a "monograph* about College Terrace which detailed the grocer who went to every housewife twice a day, once in the morning to get the order, and then again in the afternoon to deliver the crder. It was before there were tele- phones, and the grocer served as a kind of courier. Birge Clark would be greatly missed. 61.329 5/1/89 As Corrected 6/5/89 ADJOURNMENT: 7:40 p.m. - Adjourned to Study Session re Report from City Council Representatives to the City\School Liaison Committee in memory of Birge Clark (702-08) (1341-10) STUDY SESSION - REPORT FROM CITY COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES TO THE CITYJS'HQQk 111 SOJ COMMITTEE Council was given an overview and status report of the work of the City/School Liaison Committee by Chair Council Member Cobb.
