HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO 9210Resolution No. 9210 Resolution of the Council of the City of Palo Alto Expressing Appreciation to Scott T. Wong Upon His Retirement WHEREAS, Scott T. Wong served the City of Palo Alto and its citizens as a member of the Palo Alto Police Department for 29 years, becoming a full-time regular officer in June 1982, promoting to the rank:. of Agent in May 1993, promoting to the rank of Sergeant in March 1996, and then promoting to the rank: of Lieutenant in July 2009; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wong has served as a Field Training Officer, a Property Crimes Detective, a Recruiting Team member, SWAT Team member, Internal Affairs Team member, founding member of the Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, Secretary and three-term President of the Palo Alto Peace Officers' Association, patrol supervisor, Body Crimes Detective supervisor, Field Training supervisor, STAR Team supervisor, Traffic Team supervisor, K-9 Team manager, and founding President of the Palo Alto Police Managers' Association; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wong has routinely created an atmosphere of consistency and accountability while always providing honest feedback to his employees, and always addressing difficult issues with tenacity, patience, and fairness; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wong has received over 150 public and departmental commendations, including ten Notice of Achievement Awards, and a Notice of Merit Award, distinguishing his professionalism and commitment to public service, and recognizing his hard work and contributions to the field of law enforcement; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Wong has pursued his career and duties diligently with distinction, loyalty, courtesy and a sense of humor, always mentoring and developing those who worked for him and around him. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Scott T. Wong and records its' appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, upon his retirement.
