RBSOLUTION OP TBB COUNCIL OF TBB CITY OF PALO ALTO
ADOPTmG THB UTILITY STANDARDS FOR WATBR, GAS AND
DSTBWATBR SPECIPICATIONS OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AND ADOPTING AND AMBNDING THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
STANDARD DRAHINGS AND SPBCIFICATIONS
MHBRBAS, on May 11, 1964, the Council of the City of Palo
Alto adopted by motion the ·Standard Specificacions of the City of
Palo Alto,· which encompassed the engineering specifications and
aaministrative guidelines for all City of Palo Alto public works
projects, including the projects now administered by the Department
of Utilities of the City of Palo Alto; and
WHBRBAS, on December 18, 1972, by Resolution No. 4690, the
Council adopted amendments to the "Standard Spe'.!ifications of the
City of Palo Alto·; and
WBBREAS I the staff of the Department of Utilities has
determined that it is in the City's best interests to develop
engineering specifications and administrative guidelines unique to
certain City utility projects; and
WHEREAS, over the past twenty years I engineering theory and
practice have evolved and state laws pertaining to public works
construction and public works contractors have changed such that
the provisions of the ·Standard Specifications of the City of Palo
Alto" need to be updated;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
hereby RESOLVE as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto does
hereby adopt the "Utility Standards for Water, Gas and Wastewater, •
First Edition, 1992, prepared by the Director of the Department of
Utilities.
SECTION 2. The Council of the City of Palo Alto does
hereby further adopt the amendments to the ·Standard Specifications
of the City of Palo AltoW prepared by the City Engineer, which now
shall ~ entitled ·City of Palo Alto Standard Drawings and
Specifications," Third Edition, 1992.
SECT!.Q!i...3.. The Council of the City of Palo Alto does
hereby authorize the Director of Utilities and the City Engineer to
make such a~~itio~! r~¥igi~~, changes or modifications to-the
·Utility Standards for Water, Gas and Wastewater" and the ·City of
Palo Alto Standard Drawings and Specifications,· respectively, as
they each shall deem reasonable, necessary or expedient, in
accorn~nce with sound engineering principles and applicable law.
SECTION 4. The Council finds that the IiUtility Standards
for Water, Gas and wastewater" and the ·City of Palo Alto Standard
Drawings and Specifications· will have no significant effect on the
