RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO SHIRLEY WILSON
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD
WHEREAS, Shirley Wilson served the City of Palo Alto as
a member of the Architectural Review Board (ARB) from October 1988
to October 1994; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Wilson was an active member of the ARB
by serving as Chairperson from October 1989 to October 1990 and
October 1993 to October 1994, serving as member of various
committees, and working with the Utilities Department to select and
locate street light fixtures and traffic controllers for the
Downtown and residential neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Wilson unselfishly contributed her
architectural knowledge, her understanding of Palo Altoissues, her
optimism on the opportunities for Palo Alto, and her expertise in
design and architecture, while paying close attention to detail;
and
WHEREAS, Shirley Wilson's contributions were made to
guide the development of the community while striving to maintain
high design standards by adhering to the standards for review
established in the ARB ordinance; and
WHEREAS, Shirley Wilson was instrumental in and
supportive of resolving design issues which took into account both
the needs of applicants and the public's perception of projects;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Shirley Wilson for her significant personal efforts and
dedication as a member of the ARB.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Shirley
Wilson for her faithful and excellent service.
