RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
'EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JOHN NORTHWAY
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE PALO ALTO CENTENNIAL 1994 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WHEREAS, John Northway has been a member of the Palo Alto
Centennial 1994 Board of Directors since 1993; and
WHEREAS, John Northway was Co -Chair of the Community
Campaign for the spring of the Centennial year; and
WHEREAS, John Northway was instrumental in raising the
remainder of the _Centennial Endowment Fund from more than 1,600
community donors; and
WHEREAS, John Northway was Chair of the Donor Recognition
Committee, charged with the major responsibility of acknowledging
the nearly 2,000 donors to the Centennial Endowment Fund; and
WHEREAS, John Northway's inspiration led to the
Centennial Wall and its outstanding design in collaboration with.
Von Kohorn & Kitzmiller, signmakers, and James Witt, general
contractor; and
WHEREAS, John Northway's unfailing good humor saw the
Wall project through to its superlative conclusion.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to John Northway
for his lengthy and loyal volunteer service and for his part in
making Palo Alto's Centennial Year a smashing success.
