RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JOHN IVEY
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
DURING PALO ALTO'S CENTENNIAL 1994
WHEREAS, John Ivey volunteered his services all during
the Centennial; and
WHEREAS, John Ivey had the idea to create a cancellation
stamp to honor Palo Alto's official 100th birthday, April 16, 1994;
and
WHEREAS, John Ivey enlisted volunteer Mark Bowers to
design and produce the cancellation stamp; and
WHEREAS, John Ivey enlisted Ray Chun of the Palo Alto
Post Office '-o have a special substation at the Centennial
celebration on April 16, 1994; and
WHEREAS, John Ivey donated a cancelled, stamped
Centennial postcard to be enclosed in the 25 -year Centennial Time
Capsule.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to John Ivey for
his splendid idea for a commemorative cancellation stamp and for
his perseverance in seeing it become an important part of Palo
Alto's Centennial 1994.
