RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO LEONARD ELY
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE PALO ALTO CENTENNIAL 1994 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
WHEREAS, Leonard Ely has been a member of the Palo Alto
Centennial 1994 Board of Directors since 1993; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Ely has been Palo Alto's elder statesman
and benefactor of all worthy causes; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Ely has been Board Member
extraordinaire; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Ely was Co -Chair of the Fund-raising
Committee, whose wildly successful campaign brought $525,000 to the
Centennial Endowment Fund for area nonprofit organizations; and
WHEREAS, Leonard Ely is patriarch of one of Palo Alto's
first families.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Leonard Ely
for his lengthy and loyal volunteer service and for his part in
making Palo Alto's Centennial Year a smashing success.
