HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7369• RESOLUTION NO. 7369 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A GRANT FROM THE CALIFORNIA MUNICIPAL UTILITIES ASSOCIATION TO PARTIALLY DEFRAY THE COSTS OF DEVELOPMENT OF A COMPACT FLUORESCENT LAMP MARKETING PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City cf Palo Alto ("City") has successfully implemented a small scale pilot program which promoted. the residential use of compact fluorescent lamps ("CFL") as an energy efficient resource; and WHEREAS, the California Municipal Utilities Association ("CMUA"), of which the City is a member, has contracted with the Western Area Power Administration to develop and implement energy efficiency and renewable energy programs; and WHEREAS, CMUA wishes to financially support the City's plans to develop an expanded CFL point -of -purchase program, an analysis of the effectiveness of which will be shared with the members of CMUA during fiscal year 1994-95; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does hereby RESOLVE as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the acceptance of a grant of money from the California Municipal Utilities Association to pay for a portion of the costs of developing an expanded CFL marketing program. SECTION 2. The City Manager on behalf of the City is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with CMUA concerning the development of the CFL marketing program by the City's staff and the sharing of an analysis of the effectiveness of the program with CMUA and sample documents and forms. SECTION 3. The City Council finds that the action hereby approved does not constitute a project under the California Environmental Quality Act.
