RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
NAMING THE CAMBRIDGE AVENUE PARKING GARAGE
STRUCTURE AS THE "TED THOMPSON PARKING GARAGE"
WHEREAS, under CIP'Project No. 19213, the City soon will
complete construction of a new off-street parking garage structure
located on Cambridge Avenue in Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, the California Avenue Area Development Associa-
tion has requested that the Council of the City of Palo Alto
approve the naming of the new parking garage structure after the
late Ted Thompson; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and appropriate that the parking
garage structure be named in honor of a person who promoted the
site acquisition and the design and construction of the Cambridge
Avenue parking garage; and
WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Policy and
Procedure 1-15, pertaining to the naming of City -owned land and
facilities, the project manager solicited possible names for the
garage, and such name or names were submitted to the City Clerk and
to the Palo Alto Historical Association; and
WHEREAS, the Palo Alto Historical Association has
recommended that the parking garage be named for the late Ted
Thompson for his active role in support of the California Avenue
parking garage; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees with such recommendation
and desires to name the structure as the "Ted Thompson Parking
Garage";
RESOLVE

NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
as follows:
SECTION 1. The Council hereby names the Cambridge Avenue
garage structure as the "Ted Thompson Parking Garage".
SECTION 2. The Council hereby finds that the action taken
herein does not constitute a project under the California
Environmental Quality Act, and, therefore, no environmental
assessment is required.
