RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO JIM MCFALL
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE
AS A MEMBER OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD
WHEREAS, Jim McFall served as a member of the Historic
Resources Board (HRB) between December 1988 and August 1994, as a
conscientious secretary between July 12, 1989, and August 22, 1990,
and as a most effective chair between August 22, 1990, and
January 6, 1993; and
WHEREAS, Jim McFall was an extraordinarily active HRB
member, as proven by his preparation of the original application
for City membership in the Certified Local Government (CLG)
Program, the application for a CLG grant to computerize the City's
Historic Inventory, and several annual reports required to retain
the City's membership in this funding program; by acting as project
manager of the HRB's and Palo Alto/Stanford Heritage's successful
Centennial event honoring 100 -year -old structures; and more
recently by assisting the HRB in updating the National Register
application for the University Avenue Southern Pacific Depot; and
WHEREAS, Jim McFall was selfless in providing his
expertise and time on many other HRB endeavors, and he provided the
HRB with a very objective and professional opinion whenever the HRB
deliberated strategies for enhancing preservation in Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, Jim McFall provided outstanding leadership in
chairing the HRB and in serving on numerous special subcommittees
that deservedly earned him the highest respect from his HRB
colleagues, applicants, members of the public, other community
decision makers, and staff; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to recognize these
services of Jim McFall and encourages him to continue to serve the
community in areas where he expresses interest.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records its appreciation, as
well as the appreciation of the citizens of the community, for
outstanding public service rendered by Jim McFall.
