HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7325RESOLUTION 7325 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO GEORGE ZIMMERMAN UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, George Zimmerman served the City of Palo Alto as a member of the Department of Planning and Community Environment from October 1965 through June 1994; and WHEREAS, George Zimmerman began as an Assistant Planner and, during his tenure with the City of Palo Alto, has been promoted several times to his current position of Assistant Planning Official; and WHEREAS, George Zimmerman pursued his 29 -year career with exceptional dedication and concern for the City of Palo Alto and its citizens; and WHEREAS, George Zimmerman's significant personal contributions have been made in the interest of guiding the development of the community while striving to maintain a high degree of professionalism; and WHEREAS, George Zimmerman served as staff liaison to the Historic Resources Board and was instrumental in the preparation of the 1976 Comprehensive Plan, the 1978 Zoning Ordinance, the 1980 Comprehensive Plan update, the 1986 Downtown Study, the Downtown Amenities Study, the 1989 Citywide Land. Use and Transportation Study, the Urban Design Guide, and the 1995 Comprehensive Plan; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and thank George Zimmerman for his personal commitment to and pride in the community and his significant personal efforts and substantial dedication as a team member of the Department of Planning and Community Environment. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of George Zimmerman and records its appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, upon the occasion of his retirement.
