HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7302• 411 RESOLUTION 7302 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO -JOHN WILLIS LESLIE UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, John Willis Leslie served the City of Palo Alto from October 29, 1962, through April 1, 1994, as Firefighter for five years, Fire Captain for fifteen years, Paramedic for four years, Training Chief for one year, and Battalion Chief for eleven years in the Palo Alto Fire Department; and WHEREAS, John Willis Leslie pursued his duties for the safety of our citizens with enthusiasm, devotion, thoroughness, common sense, fairness, compassion, and courtesy; and WHEREAS, John Willis Leslie was one of Palo Alto's first paramedics, founding father, and first Chairman of the "California Fire Rescue/Paramedic Association" and was designated as "Outstanding Fireman" by the Independent Insurance Agents Association of Palo Alto; and WHEREAS, John Willis Leslie served as an instructor for the State of California for fire science regional -occupational programs and was the project coordinator for the City of Palo Alto's computerized run map system; and WHEREAS, through the efforts and contributions of John Willis Leslie, the City continues to occupy a position of respect in terms of emergency services provided to its citizens by the City Fire Department; and WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the meritorious service of John Willis Leslie. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of John Willis Leslie and records its appreciation as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community for the service and contribution rendered during his 32 years of employment with the City.
