RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO NEIL HEYDEN
FOR OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF
THE HISTORIC RESOURCES BOARD
WHEREAS, Neil Heyden served the City of Palo Alto as a
member of the Historic Resources Board from September 1989 to
February 1994; and
WHEREAS, Neil Heyden was an active member of the Historic
Resources Board by serving as Secretary from August 1990 to
February 1993; and
WHEREAS, Neil Heyden unselfishly contributed his
knowledge and interest toward expanding historic preservation
efforts in Palo Alto and enthusiastically assisted in all special
projects undertaken by the Historic Resources Board; and
WHEREAS, Neil Heyden's significant personal contributions
include effectively assisting the Historic Resources Board during
the Board's extensive deliberations on expanding the Professorville
Historic District and, during that time, he .conducted extensive
research on early Sanborne maps of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, Neil Heyden made extensive contributions to all
Historic Resources Board activities by providing a layperson's
perspective on preservation strategies, ordinance revisions, and
design review of historic properties; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto wishes to acknowledge and
thank Neil Heyden for his personal commitment and pride in the
community and his significant personal efforts and dedication as a
member of the Historic Resources Board.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the
City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere
appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Neil Heyden
for his faithful and excellent service rendered to the City.
