HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7560RESOLUTION 7560 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO LAWRENCE PETERSON UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson has served the City of Palo Alto and its citizens as a member of the Palo Alto Police Department from November 1963 through December 1995; and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson served the Palo Alto community in all aspects of law enforcement, beginning with the fourth watch footbeat and parking enforcement on a three-wheeler; and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson was promoted to rank of Sergeant in June 1979 and then to Lieutenant in July 1995; and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson served in many capacities during his 32 -year law enforcement career, including as a motorcycle officer between 1967 and 1971, as a detective in Investigative Services in the Crimes Against Persons position, and as Sergeant of the Traffic Division; and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson oversaw the Evidence Team, was an integral part of the Field Training Program for new officers, and was involved in the program as a line level officer and a supervisor; and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson was recognized as being the "most senior" person selected for the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (S.W.A.T.); and WHEREAS, Lawrence Peterson pursued his 32 -year law enforcement career with dignity, loyalty, fairness, courtesy, and professionalism. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby gratefully records and extends its sincere appreciation and the appreciation of the community to Lawrence Peterson for his faithful and excellent service rendered to the City.
