-RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING UTILITY RATE SCHEDULE G-3 AND
ESTABLISHING UTILITY RATE SCHEDULES G-4 AND G-7
OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO UTILITIES RATES AND
CHARGES PERTAINING TO NON -CORE, TRANSPORTATION -
ONLY AND LARGE COMMERCIAL NATURAL GAS SERVICE
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does hereby RESOLVE as
follows:
SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 12.20.010 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code, Schedule G-3 (Non -Core Natural Gas Service) of the
Palo Alto Utilities Rates and Charges is hereby amended to read in
accordance with Sheets G-3-1 and G-3-2, and Schedule G-4
(Transportation -Only Natural Gas Service) and Schedule G-7 (Large
Commercial Natural Gas Service) are hereby added to the Palo Alto
Utilities Rates and Charges to read in accordance with Sheets G-4-1
and G-7-1, respectively, attached hereto and incorporated herein by
reference. The foregoing Utility Rate Schedules, as amended and as
adopted, shall become effective on July 1, 1995.
SECTION 2. The Council finds that the revenue derived from
the authorized adjustment and addition of the several natural gas
service rates shall be used only for the purposes set forth in
Article VII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto.
SECTION 3. The Council finds that the adoption of this
resolution does not constitute a project under the California
Environmental Quality Act, California Public Resources Code section
21080, subdivision (b)(8).

NON -CORE NATURAL GAS SERVICE
UTILITY RATE SCHEDULE G-3
A. APPLICABILITY:
This schedule applies to non -core transportation and commodity service for non-residential
customers who use at least 250,000 therms per year per site. In addition, this rate schedule
applies to customers formerly receiving service under the Gas Rate Schedule G-50 rate
dated July 1, 1992.
B. TERRITORY:
Within the service area of the City of Palo Alto and on land owned or leased by the City.
C. RATES:
Per Meter
Per Month
1. Commodity Charge Per Therm 10.00 - 35.00
2. Brokerage Fee per Therm 0.4¢
3. Transportation Charge Per Therm 17.00
D. SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
1. Service under this schedule is subject to discontinuance in whole or in part in case of
actual or anticipated shortage of natural gas resulting from an insufficient supply,
inadequate transmission or delivery capacity of facilities, or shortage requirements.
However, the City will attempt to minimize disruption by providing adequate notice prior
to curtailment. The City will not be liable for damages occasioned by interruption or
discontinuance of service supplied under this schedule.
2. Specific terms and conditions shall be covered by separate agreement between the City
and customers served under this rate schedule.
3. The commodity charge is equal to the City's average cost of the natural gas paid at the
California border for the month immediately preceding the month in which the customer
is billed. The commodity charge will fall within the minimum/maximum range set forth
in C.1.
4. A customer who elects to be served under this rate will pay a brokerage fee equal to
the allocable administrative costs incurred by the City in providing the non -core gas
service.

5. The transportation charge is equal to the cost of transporting natural gas from the
California border to the customers gas meter.
6. The total monthly charge = therms used during the month X (commodity charge +
brokerage fees + Transportation charge).
7. A customer may request service under this schedule for more than one account or
meter if the accounts are located on one site. A site shall be defined as one or more
utility accounts serving contiguous parcels of land with no intervening public right-of-
ways (e.g. streets) and have a common billing address.

A. APPLICABILITY:
This schedule applies to transportation -only service for non -core service for customers who
use at least 250,000 therms per year at one site.
B. TERRITORY:
Within the service area of the City of Palo Alto and on land owned or leased by the City.
C. RATES:
Per Meter
Per Month
1. Transportation Charge Per Therm 17.0¢
2. Brokerage Fee per Therm 0.4¢
D. SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
1. Specific terms and conditions shall be covered by separate agreement between the
City and customers served under this rate schedule.
2. A cusoomer who elects to be charged under this rate Schedule will pay a brokerage
fee equal to the allocable administrative costs incurred by the city in providing
transportation -only service.
3. The transportation charge is equal to the cost of transporting natural gas from the
California border to the customer's gas meter.
4. Total monthly charge = therms used X (transportation charge + brokerage fee).
5. A customer may request service under this schedule for more than one account or
