RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO RALPH S. LIBBY
UPON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Ralph S. Libby began his employment with the City of
Palo Alto on June 5, 1967, and has served the citizens of Palo Alto as
a professional librarian for 28 years; and
WHEREAS, Ralph S. Libby has provided reference assistance at
both Main and Mitchell Park libraries, inspiring a significant fan club
of library users who ask for him and indicate their preference for his
assistance; and
WHEREAS, Ralph S. Libby has ordered thousands of titles needed
to maintain an excellent reference collection of books and materials and
has for 25 years prepared and maintained thousands of article citations
for the valuable historical index to local newspaper stories about Palo
Alto citizens and events with accuracy and efficiency; and
WHEREAS, Ralph S. Libby has updated countless reference
resources with changes resulting from elections and current events both
locally, statewide, and nationally and has come to the aid and support
of his coworkers with his excellent recall of essential facts or exact
names of reference titles; and
WHEREAS, the City of Palo Alto desires to recognize the
meritorious service of Ralph S. Libby upon his retirement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council, of the City
of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Ralph S.
Libby and records its appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the
citizens of this community, for the service and contribution rendered
during his 28 years of employment with the City.
