HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESO7618. • RESOLUTION 7618 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO RONALD E. BIERMAN UPON HIS RETIREMENT WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman served the City of Palo Alto and its citizens as a member of the Palo Alto Police Department from May 7, 1973, through August 20, 1996; and WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman's work assignments included the Field Services Division, Support Services, and the Traffic Team, and in 1975 he served as the "resident police officer" in the Palo Alto Foothills; and WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman familiarized himself with some of the lesser known areas of the City and assisted in the correction of several hazardous and nuisance conditions; and WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman became one of the original Reserve Training Officers and was responsible for organizing and modifying many of the training procedures; and WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman received over 40 commendations for such things as his arrest of a residential burglar, his use of CPR that saved the life of a two -year -old child, his efforts to locate missing persons, and his presentations made for numerous students; and WHEREAS, Ronald E. Bierman pursued his 23 -year law enforcement career with loyalty, courtesy, and professionalism. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Palo Alto hereby commends the outstanding public service of Ronald E. Bierman and records its appreciation, as well as the appreciation of the citizens of this community, upon his retirement.
